DK VS T1 LCK Finals Breaks viewership numbers

The League of Legends final in the LCK this weekend was played between the two Korean powerhouses Damwon Gaming and T1. It was an exciting final with games going back and forth between the two teams, with DK claiming the throne with a score of 3 games to 1.

Although T1 had a massive lead in the third game and they were everyone's favorite to win that particular match a costly mistake by Faker with a Ryze ultimate cost them the game. Despite slight mistakes from both teams the games were quite well executed and ShowMaker showed once again that he's one of the best mid laners in the entire world. With an insane performance on Ryze in the first game, Kassadin in the second game, and a very impressive performance going 7-1 on LeBlanc in the fourth game he lead his team to the LCK championship for 2021.

The most impressive factor in this series is the viewership numbers, with concurrent 1.3 million viewers this is the new record for regional LCK and League of Legends viewership, aside from the LPL which has the highest player and viewer base but sadly numbers are not made public from this region. So as far as official records go this was the most viewed LoL event if we exclude Worlds and MSI.

Other notable LCK viewership numbers include :

LCK Spring '20 - 1.07 million

LCK Regional '20 - 1.04 million

LCK Spring '21 - 836k

Although this will sting for T1 and Faker as this is the first time they have qualified for worlds without having won a split that year, both teams have a ticket for the worlds 2021 Championship and will be competing for the most prestigious League of Legends trophy.

As for Damwon they are the reigning World Champions having won the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. ShowMaker and Canyon are in great form this year, although DK's botlane Ghost and Beryl seem to be having performance issues. The big challenge for Damwon will be the Chinese teams from the LPL this season with teams like FPX looking amazing at the current moment and being the favorites to win the 2021 World Championship according to many analysts and players alike.
