Twisted Fate The Champion that will make you gain LP - 4 reasons to play Twisted Fate Right now!

Twisted Fate is an infamous cardsharp and swindler who has gambled and charmed his way across much of the known world, earning the enmity and admiration of the rich and foolish alike. He rarely takes things seriously, greeting each day with a mocking smile and an insouciant swagger. In every possible way, Twisted Fate always has an ace up his sleeve.

Twisted fate is my favorite champion for climbing up the ladder. At first look this champion seems very simple but there is more to TF than catches the eye.

Even by Riot Games's standards he's a Mage that is hard to play. There is much proof regarding Twisted Fate's potency when trying to climb the ranked ladder in League of Legends, simply looking at Dopa/Apdos SoloQ Accounts from the earliest season all the way to season 11 we can see that Twisted Fate is almost always in his top 2 played champions. So what makes Twisted Fate so great as to be used by the best SoloQ player of all time consistently?

1.Lane priority

After level 9 when you have maxed your Q it's almost impossible to contest laning priority against you. Even in the early game TF has one of the best pushes in the game so you should always be thinking about which scuttle your jungler is going to go for and secure it with him. Trade sparingly until level 5. When you get level 5 shove the wave with 2 q's and recall. Buy your items and come back to lane. After this wave you will have bought items , be level 6 when botlane is level 4 and top and jungle are level 5 and look for opportunities. Perfect this way of playing and play the mid and late game properly on side lanes and you will rise in the ranks quite easily.

2. High Side Lane Pressure

Twisted Fate's R ability allows you to teleport across the map in a wide range of area. Combine this with the pushing ability of his q while remaining safe and you can always come on top in most side lane fights. After the towers start falling you ideally want to prop yourself in either the bot or top lane depending on your team situation. If the enemy team does not choose to contest your push you will soak up a lot of free gold, experience and keep on pushing to the inhibitor at which point the enemy team will have to contest the lane which gives you an opportunity to use your R elsewhere and create a man advantage. This is the bread and butter for Twisted Fate in the mid to late game.

3. You can learn a lot about macro

Twisted Fate's High skill ceiling is not due to his combos or micro. It's largely due to the planning and skill it requires to play him properly. You always want to be one step ahead of the enemy team and force them into bad positions.

Let's choose a random scenario that is bound to happen. Say the enemy team is ahead and wants to do baron, their top laner already used his teleport and their mid laner is running ignite. Say they are setting up around baron, clearing vision. You have two options: 1. Go with your team and contest baron or 2. Push the top or bot lane.

Let's say you choose option one , what are the chances that you are going to lose the 5 v 5? It's probably very high since you're already behind. So the better option would be to split push and let your team bide their time while you push the top or bot lane. Usually in these situations you will be pushing the bot lane. In my experience in these situations your team holds well 80% of the time. Now let's say you already have lichbane and rabadons completed. You will destroy all the turrets very fast and if the enemy doesn't send anyone for you before you get their inhibitor they are likely to lose the game, why? In most situations your team will realize that you can end the game if you have already taken the enemy inhibitor and stall backs.

But say they send someone for you what do you do? You just use your R and create a 5 v 4 situation. This is very simple but making the decisions on what you are supposed to do always depends on your teams mental. Can they hold off and not die while the enemy team is hitting the baron? Do they realize that you are splitpushing? But honestly it doesn't matter if they realize it or not. Split pushing is always the best option in this case.

Just seeing scenarios like this over and over and you will know what to do eventually. Thus paying attention to the macro side of the game will improve your other champions as well.

4. Twisted Fate is an immovable object when played right

Twisted Fate's laning prowess is actually quite high if done right. He has surpising damage with his E in the early game so you can keep enemies at bay. The way to think about laning phase when playing TF is that you are basically trying to nullify the laning phase and set up ganks when possible. You never want to force solo kills to get an advantage. Getting an advantage elsewhere with your jungler or team is always better. Say that you have played 1-5 lvl's perfectly and now you are recalled with almost perfect cs and have bought items. You come to a clean wave and now are level 6. You have perfect tempo on the game and can teleport top, bot or help your jungler whenever, this is a very simple concept but quite hard to do why? Because you need to learn a lot of the matchups to get unscathed to level 6. But once you know these matchups it's actually quite easy to do and your win rate will skyrocket, I promise. Whenever I have 0 deaths in lane as TF I think to myself "this will be quite easy to win now". It's that simple, figure out a plan to get out of lane untouched while eating up all of the minions and help your side lanes. Simple concept but needs a lot of practice but the rewards ? Dopa has reached Rank 1 numerous times using these simple concepts and he talks about them all the time.
